Legal Secretary & PA

Full time, Lincoln

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Legal Secretary & PA to join Streets Law Limited, our professional law firm based in our Lincoln office. This important role involves regular communication with clients and external advisers, where first impressions count. The ideal candidate will be able to provide exceptional service to our clients and provide administrative support to the managing director and wider team of fee earners.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Meeting and greeting clients/visitors,
  • Answering telephone calls/first point of contact for clients & client liaison;
  • Arranging and attending client meetings (face-to-face & via Teams/Zoom) & taking notes and minutes of meetings;
  • Administration duties including scanning and post duties, new client file set up, management of client details on our software systems, and precedent document storage and management (indexing and storing of deeds).
  • Assisting with document drafting & Companies House filings;
  • Assisting with invoicing & credit control; and
  • Assisting the directors with the firm’s marketing strategies, including on LinkedIn and social media.

The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication and numeracy skills, have a friendly and outgoing personality and be willing to learn and be part of a growing team. It is essential the successful candidate is computer literate and has a competent knowledge of Microsoft Office. A highly organised approach, a strong work ethic with a can do attitude are also important requirements. Previous legal work experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Corporate & Commercial Solicitor (3 years PQE)

Streets Law was founded in September 2019, it is the dedicated and standalone legal services arm of Streets Chartered Accountants, a top 40 UK accountancy practice.

The vision of the firm is simple – to provide Streets’ accountancy and tax clients with a “full circle” professional service offering by providing efficient, high-calibre and cost-effective legal advice and solutions to complement the Streets accountancy and tax services. Streets Law is ambitious and progressive, with a strong vision and strategy for growth in its chosen legal markets. We are seeking a qualified corporate and commercial solicitor with a minimum of 3 years PQE gained at a leading regional or City firm to join an established team and play a pivotal role in growing the business.

The successful candidate will have strong technical expertise and experience handling a diverse caseload covering both corporate and commercial legal matters including private company share and asset purchases, management buy-outs and buy-ins, shareholder and investment agreements, share schemes and general corporate governance and company secretarial work.

In addition to strong technical abilities and a track record of advising on and leading M&A deals up to £10million, the successful candidate will be confident, self-motivated and able to work as comfortably on their own as well as with the support of the managing director and support staff. Above all, the ideal candidate will be a team player and will be able to motivate and inspire others.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with drive and ambition and who is looking for a role with significant growth potential and with responsibility for supervising and training junior lawyers. Salary is competitive and dependent on experience. The role will allow some flexible/agile home working.

The Role

  1. To work closely with the directors and junior members of staff on various corporate and commercial transactional matters;
  2. Lead transactions and negotiate and advise clients on a variety of matters, including share and asset disposals, management buy-outs, shareholders agreements and various commercial contracts;
  3. Work alongside the directors and Streets’ marketing team and play a key role in developing and implementing the firm’s growth strategy in its chosen markets;
  4. Manage your own client portfolio with the support of the directors and junior members of staff and win new clients through internal and external networking and marketing;
  5. Oversee and assist with training and development responsibilities for junior members of staff.

Requirements

  1. Qualified solicitor with a minimum of 3 years PQE;
  2. Demonstrable experience of both corporate (M&A) and commercial legal matters;
  3. Excellent communication and personal skills;
  4. Fully proficient with all Microsoft applications, Word, Outlook, Powerpoint, Excel;
  5. Excellent drafting skills and attention to detail;
  6. Strong organisational skills;
  7. Willingness to learn and ability to work independently as well as part of a team;
  8. Ability to contribute to the company’s growth plans and to help market the company’s services.
